On Sep. 13, the Salt Lake Chamber and our strategic partner, Downtown Alliance, participated in the United Way of Salt Lake‘s Day of Caring for 2012 along with thousands of others.
Our project for the day was the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Community Center. At first, we had a group painting the dining room, a group organizing their pantry and another group painting the Weigland Center, just south of the dining room. After a couple hours, we combined all the teams to finish painting the Weigland Center as there was a lot more ground to cover there.
Not one of us went home without paint on our clothing.
The day was filled with a great energy as we tried to make the community center shine. It was an amazing opportunity for us to work together and give back.
We welcome you to share your Day of Caring 2012 stories in our comments below! Did you or your business participate? What did you do to help the community?

This morning, the United Way of Salt Lake announced that Camille Winnie, Downtown Alliance Director of Community Development, is a finalist to win a year lease on a fancy BMW from BMW Murray along with a year of gas from Tesoro.
Over the next several months, eight more finalists will be drawn. In May 2013, they will each try a different key to see which one will start the coveted car. If you ask us, we think this BMW looks like it should belong to Camille. What do you think?
We’re keeping our fingers crossed for Camille to be the lucky winner in May!
