Downtown Alliance Director of Urban Development
Jesse Dean is the director of urban development at the Downtown Alliance. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Jesse is dedicated to the nonprofit organization mission of building a dynamic and diverse downtown that is the regional center for culture, commerce and entertainment.
Joining in the fall of 2011, Jesse is responsible for representing the Downtown Alliance and the downtown property owners on policy positions and economic development initiatives in the downtown area. Jesse also provides research on key downtown economic and business indicators, publishing quarterly and annual economic profiles of the Central Business District.
In addition to his responsibilities with public policy and policy research, Jesse also contributes to the Downtown Alliance blog and social media channels. Previously serving as an event coordinator with the Downtown Alliance, Jesse remains active with Downtown Alliance signature events including the Downtown Dine O' Round, Downtown Farmers Market and EVE.
Prior to joining the Downtown Alliance, Jesse worked in the Salt Lake City Mayor's Office as an intern to the policy advisor to the mayor. While living in Wisconsin, he worked in the legal advisor’s office for Governor Jim Doyle and served as an assistant at the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.
Jesse spends his free time pursuing passions for skiing and chasing his dog throughout the Wasatch.
