Wesley G. Smith
Executive Vice President of Government Relations, General Counsel
Wesley G. Smith has broad policy experience in the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government and representing business. Wesley is currently the executive vice president of government relations and general counsel. He oversees government relations efforts of Utah’s largest and longest business association and provides legal expertise for the organization.
Working with business leaders to craft and advocate sound public policy on issues that affect business, Wesley is involved in a broad spectrum of issue including economic development, education, energy, health system reform, immigration, international business and transportation. He advances policy at both the state and federal level.
Wesley previously served as director of public policy for the Chamber. Prior to joining the Chamber, Wesley earned his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School. He spent five years in Washington D.C., where he clerked at The White House—Office of Counsel to the President and was a political appointee in the Bush administration. He and his family then moved to Salt Lake City where he spent several years in the general practice of law. Wesley is a member of the Utah Bar.
