What will happen at the Point of the Mountain if we follow current trends?

The Baseline Scenario for the Point of the Mountain was recently released to the public at last week’s Point of the Mountain Development Commission meeting.

We can’t predict the future with complete accuracy, but this baseline scenario anticipates how the area could turn out in 2050 if we continue on our current path.

The Phase Two Baseline Scenario Brochure describes how the scenario was shaped and includes summaries of the following topics:

  • What will residential and commercial development in the region look like?
  • Which transportation projects will be built and how well will people be able to get around?
  • How will job growth and workforce development be impacted?
  • How will air quality be affected?
  • How will open space, recreation, and water use be impacted?

The baseline scenario is just one possibility for the future of the Point of the Mountain—it is not the final outcome of the Point of the Mountain visioning process.

Stay tuned in the coming months as we refine this preliminary scenario. Future scenarios will explore different options and outcomes for the growth at the Point of the Mountain.
