In this Building Utah podcast we sit down with Joe Albaugh, chief security officer at Vivint Smart Home, to talk about applying best practices to keep you and your company safe from cyber attacks. Albaugh explains how more than 75 percent of attacks exploit the failure to put in place basic controls and ways to protect yourself by using the “3Ps.”

Joe Albaugh is the Chief Security Officer at Vivint Smart Home, responsible for all security strategy and initiatives. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in security analysis, design, implementation and management, with a particularly strong background in technical vulnerability assessment and program development. Before joining Vivint, Albaugh was the Chief Information Security Officer for the U.S. Department of Transportation, overseeing the information assurance and cybersecurity efforts across all modes of transportation within the department. Prior to this role, he was the Chief Information Security Officer for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where he led the redesign the organization’s cybersecurity program.
