Salt Lake City, UT–March 24, 2021–The Utah Chapter of CCIM today announced that Tom Uriona has been named the 2021 Excellence Awards Hall of Fame recipient. Held annually, the Excellence Awards honors professionals within Utah’s commercial real estate industry who exemplify the highest degree of business excellence. The event recognizes individuals spanning more than 15 specialties within the industry, the pinnacle award being the Hall of Fame, which highlights aninstitution or individual that has had a dramatic and valuable impact on the Utah commercial real estate market. The full list of award recipients will be announced at an event held at the Grand America Hotel on Saturday, May 15, 2021. This year’s event theme is Stabilizing Forces.

This year’s Hall of Fame recipient, Tom Uriona, most recently served as the Senior Director of Corporate Real Estate for Intermountain Healthcare (Intermountain), though he successfully retired at the end of 2020 following a real estate career encompassing consulting, financing, leasing, sales—acquisitions and dispositions—and appraisal activities. In his role with Intermountain, Tom oversaw the asset management of the real estate holdings of the company where he directed acquisition, disposition, leasing and various other real estate activities, together with participating in the strategic planning for the organization. One of the crowning achievements of Tom’s career was the significant role he played in the development of the Intermountain Medical Center (IMC) in Murray, which has proved an asset to Intermountain and the local community. Intermountain’s real estate portfolio includes properties in Utah, Nevada and southern Idaho with 25 hospitals containing 5.4 million square feet. In addition, the portfolio encompasses medical office space totaling approximately 5.3 million square feet, 48 free-standing medical clinics containing just over 1.0 million square feet, and improved properties and various strategic vacant land holdings. Tom has been awarded the CRE, CCIM and MAI designations, and on a personal note is an avid snow skier and cyclist.

“Tom has dedicated 43 years of his life to overseeing real estate activities within the state of Utah, and as a community we all know how impactful the IMC medical campus has been to the Salt Lake Valley,” noted Jody Jones, CCIM Utah Excellence Awards Chair. “We are grateful for the positive impact he has had our community and are very pleased to honor Tom as this year’s Excellence Awards Hall of Fame recipient.”

The CCIM Utah Excellence Awards Chair is Jody Jones of Windermere Commercial Real Estate. Big-D Construction is this year’s marquee event sponsor, and Colliers International is the platinum event sponsor. Several scholarships, funded by Price Real Estate, will also be awarded to University of Utah students at the event.
