Desert West Office Supply is one of the many businesses that received a Mainstreet Preservation Grant.
Owner Kerry Lange shares their story:
“My wife and I purchased this office supply business in 1996 from another local family that had been in business for 35 years. We have struggled as you may well understand with the onslaught of the internet and the big box stores. We have managed to find a niche for ourselves and both of us being raised in Moab has helped tremendously. In a business where brick and mortar is not supposed to work, we are thriving.
“The Mainstreet Preservation Grant will allow us to pay our help for at least a month and we are all still working. While our income is way down, I think we are going to be fine with help from people like you. Our customers still require office supplies to maintain home schooling as well as working from home.”

The Mainstreet Preservation Grant, provided by the Salt Lake Chamber’s Utah Job Opportunities Foundation, is made possible thanks to a $500,000 donation from WCF Insurance. The grant funds are used to support rural and/or minority small businesses in Utah that need immediate assistance due to the COVID-19 and before federal stimulus funding is accessed. These grant funds are intended to help businesses in the short-term. To donate or learn more about the Mainstreet Preservation Grant, visit slchamber.com/mainstreet-preservation-grant.
