SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH (March 14, 2018) – In keeping with the objectives laid out in the Salt Lake Chamber’s Top-10 Legislative Priorities, yesterday the Chamber’s Executive Board reiterated its commitment to support transformative economic development opportunities by voting to support to the creation of an inland port.

As the Crossroads of the West, Utah is uniquely positioned as a logistics hub with connections to first-rate, multi-modal transportation infrastructure, connections to major seaports and access to large markets. By best utilizing our assets we can bolster our local economy and increase access to global trade.

We are encouraged that Governor Herbert, legislative leaders and Salt Lake City are working together to reach agreement on the implementation of the Inland Port Authority. We urge state leaders to find ways to accommodate legitimate concerns to ensure this critical economic development opportunity moves forward in a timely manner.
