2018-2019 Annual Report
Dear Members,What a year it has been! Thanks to dedicated business leaders like you, the Salt Lake Chamber has stood as the voice of business, supported our members’ success and championed community prosperity for over 132 years.
The Salt Lake Chamber was successful in advancing pro-business policies during the 2019 Legislative Session. We’ve made significant strides to enhance the funding necessary to build a talented workforce, bring computer science to every classroom and address our housing affordability crisis. We have worked closely with our members and the legislature to ensure Utah’s business perspective and responsible tax policies guide the discussion on restructuring the state’s tax code.
In addition to the year’s legislative achievements, the Chamber continued its long-standing tradition of convening business and community leaders to recognize those making a difference for our state, providing professional development training and facilitating networking opportunities. Highlights for this year’s programs and events include recognizing the 56 graduates of the Leadership Utah Class of 2019, hosting the Education & Workforce Forum with all five of our women college and university presidents, and honoring Cindy Crane as the 2018 ATHENA and Fred Lampropoulos as the 40th Giant in our City.
Working with our strategic partners, the Downtown Alliance, Women’s Leadership Institute (WLI), World Trade Center Utah (WTC Utah) and Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, as well as our economic partners, EDCUtah and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, the efforts of “Team Utah” have helped to fortify our state as one of the strongest economies in the nation.
Our 2018-2019 Annual Report features community and business leadership and outlines many of the Chamber’s accomplishments. We hope this report inspires you to become even more involved with the Chamber during the upcoming year. Thank you for making our success possible.
Sincerely,
Derek Miller, president and CEO
Steve Starks, 2018-2019 Board Chair
