SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (October 26, 2017) – Lane Beattie, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber issued the following statement today after Congress’ final passage of the Budget Resolution for FY18, unlocking the process to achieve pro-growth tax reform:

“As Utah’s business leader, we are thrilled that Congress is moving forward with tax reform thanks to today’s vote. Utah’s business community is extremely appreciative that all of our members of Congress worked and voted in support of advancing the latest budget resolution. This is an historic opportunity for tax reform that will simplify the code, lower rates for all businesses, and improve the economy. The current federal tax code is a complex and antiquated system that is holding Utah business back, as it hinders innovation, discourages investment, and breeds uncertainty.

“Last month, nearly 70 executives from Utah shared this message during the Chamber’s annual Washington, D.C. trip. We are pleased to see our voices are being heard. Federal tax reform will enable the best performing economy in the nation to reach new heights—benefiting small business owners and Utah families.

“We look forward to further working with Utah’s federal delegation over the next several weeks to ensure Congress remains committed to advancing a tax reform package designed to be a major improvement over the unacceptable status quo.”
