SALT LAKE CITY (Aug. 16, 2019) – Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber and Downtown Alliance, issued the following statement on the Salt Lake City mayoral primary election results:

“Congratulations to Erin Mendenhall and Luz Escamilla on their victories in the Salt Lake City mayoral primary election. We wish them well as they move into a constructive and informative runoff to serve our capital city–the cornerstone of one of the best economies in America. 

“The economy and quality of life enjoyed in Salt Lake City was created through dedication, determination and partnership between the business community and elected leaders. We look forward to collaborating with the successful mayoral candidate on expanding prosperity for all and addressing the opportunities and challenges in Salt Lake City’s future.

“Over the past few months, the field of mayoral candidates led thoughtful and passionate conversations about clean air, housing, transportation and other key issues for Salt Lake City. We appreciate that their campaigns were not only substantive but civil. We look forward to continued discourse with candidates Mendenhall and Escamilla. The Downtown Alliance will host a mayoral debate on downtown growth and other issues in September. Details will follow.”
