SALT LAKE CITY (July 19, 2018) – The Salt Lake Chamber, Utah’s largest and longest-standing business association, has received a 2018 Grand Award for Communication Excellence from the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE). The Chamber received this recognition for their work on the Utah Tax Modernization Campaign.
“We are proud to receive this award. As Utah’s business leader, we support tax policies that strengthen Utah’s economy and properly balance tax simplicity, revenue sufficiency and fairness,” said Derek B. Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber and Downtown Alliance. “This campaign not only resulted in a reduction of both individual and corporate tax rates, but also paved the way for future discussions on how to create a tax code fit for our modern economy. We share this recognition and the success of this campaign with all those involved, especially our instrumental partner Utah Media Group.”
As Utah’s economy has changed, the Salt Lake Chamber believed that modernizing Utah’s tax code was the most critical issue facing the Legislature and needed to be addressed during the 2018 Legislative Session. To achieve this, the Chamber invested in a campaign that sought to make the issue extremely visible, not only to the public to help them understand the need, but more importantly to our legislators to encourage them to take action.
“It was a privilege for our agency to work on a project that is not only important to Utah businesses, but also brought awareness to a very important issue to our entire community,” said Brent Low, CEO of Utah Media Group. “Our UMG Agency specialists worked together with the Salt Lake Chamber to quickly create a campaign and message of which we can all be proud. Our congratulations to the Salt Lake Chamber for a job well done.”
Every year the ACCE recognizes chambers of commerce for outstanding marketing and communications work through their Awards for Communications Excellence program. Each submission was organized by type–advertising and marketing; campaigns; digital; and publications–and by organization’s total annual budget–under $1 million; $1 to $3 million; and above $3 million. Grand Award winners were recognized during the ACCE Awards Show on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at #ACCE18 in Des Moines, Iowa.
