SALT LAKE CITY, UT (May 6, 2019) – Today Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber and Downtown Alliance, released the following statement regarding National Small Business Week held May 5-11, 2019:

“National Small Business Week recognizes the significant impact small business owners have on our economy. Utah is home to over 277,000 small businesses, comprising almost 99.3% of Utah companies. The hard work, ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit of small business owners across our state are critical to our long-term success.

“Small businesses also make up nearly 75% of the Salt Lake Chamber’s membership, reinforcing our commitment to building a strong and educated workforce, continuously assessing our state’s taxes and regulations, incentivizing business creation, relocation and expansion, and championing international trade; helping Utah’s small business ecosystem to flourish and ultimately, keeping the American Dream alive for all Utahns.”

To commemorate National Small Business Week, the Salt Lake Chamber is participating in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Utah events which recognize small businesses in our local community.
