Salt Lake City, UT (June 30, 2021) – The Salt Lake Chamber issued the following statement regarding the passing of Former Giant in Our City, Bishop Tanner Irish:
“It is with sad but warm hearts the Salt Lake Chamber mourns the passing of the late Bishop Carolyn Tanner Irish. Bishop Tanner Irish of the Episcopal Diocese of Utah was the first woman to lead a major Christian denomination in Utah.
She was also the first individual woman to receive the Giant in Our City award for her lifetime of service and giving back to the community. Bishop Tanner Irish lived a life that embodied the traits we all should champion; service, love, ministering to others, challenging convention and overcoming one’s own personal challenges.
She will be greatly missed in the community, but her accomplishments will not be forgotten and we celebrate the life and example she shared with us.”
