SALT LAKE CITY (Mar. 4, 2015) – Lane Beattie, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber, issued the following statement regarding S.B. 296, Antidiscrimination and Religious Amendments, sponsored by Senators Stephen Urquhart and Stuart Adams:

“A standard statewide law protecting against employment and housing discrimination, and guaranteeing religious liberty, is good for Utah’s economy. Enacting such a law will help ensure that Utah can continue to attract top talent.

“The Salt Lake Chamber, which represents more than 8,000 Utah businesses who employ more than half of the workforce in our state, is grateful to all parties for conducting a civil and mutually respectful discussion that helped define common ground.”
