This is Derek Miller Speaking on Business.  For twenty-eight years the Salt Lake City community has welcomed the Downtown Farmers Market that includes more than 100 Farms and ranches from 6 Utah counties. Alison Einerson from Urban Food Connections of Utah is here to tell us more.

ALISON EINERSON

The Downtown Farmers Market opened on June 13th and will operate every Saturday through October 24th in Pioneer Park. It’s recognized as an essential grocery service for the Intermountain region and an economic lifeline for local farmers and producers.

To protect against the coronavirus, this year we enhanced safety measures, including a revised market layout with ten feet of space between vendors and one-way traffic throughout the market.  There will be plenty of space for patrons following social distancing, and masks are required for vendors and staff.  They are also encouraged for patrons. Farmers and producers will be on hand with fresh, locally grown produce, grass fed meats, dairy products, baked goods, and other packaged food favorites.

For more information, or to contribute to our community efforts, please visit SLCFarmersmarket.org. We look forward to seeing you soon!

DEREK MILLER

The Downtown Farmers Market is a vehicle for entrepreneurs and represents the best of Utah. It helps Utahns share self-reliant habits by providing a venue to gather food, a sense of place and a respect for our agricultural pioneer heritage.

I hope to meet you at the market!

I’m Derek Miller, and this is Speaking on Business.
