This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Community organizations have helped shape and support the ever-changing needs of our rapidly developing state. Liz Owens of YWCA Utah is here to discuss the ways YWCA Utah has been helping Utah women and their families for over a century.

LIZ OWENS

Our mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. We’re committed to helping Utah women thrive and empower them to live the lives of their choosing. We’ve been supporting Utah women and their families since 1906 and are one of the largest, most comprehensive family violence service providers in our state, with emergency shelter, case management, walk-in services, and more.

We’re not only helping women and their families flee domestic violence, we are developing young women’s professional and leadership skills, training Utah women to run for office at all levels across the state, nurturing the young minds of tomorrow, supporting women of color seeking community and healing, and advocating for change in the community and at the Capitol through policy and race equity initiatives. There’s so much more to come. We can’t wait to see what the future holds, and with your support, we can create a more just world.
