This is Derek Miller Speaking on Business. This is our community, and Bill Crim from United Way of Salt Lake is here to discuss the lasting social change that can happen when dedicated individuals, corporate partners, and communities work together to have a collective impact here in Utah.
Our core mission at United Way of Salt Lake is to connect Utahns in crisis with the services they need. The effects of COVID have been devastating for many, and we continue to work to connect people to the resources that can help them get back on their feet, including partnering with LYFT to provide free rides to and from vaccination appointments. You can dial 211 for more information.
Through our Promise Partnerships, we are building a team of businesses, schools, nonprofits and others that can help every child succeed in school. Students who graduate from high school and complete post-secondary education are less likely to experience poverty, receive public assistance, or become involved in the criminal justice system. We have an opportunity right now to solve big problems, and I want to encourage everyone to get involved — we can do it, but we have to do it together.
United Way of Salt Lake is working to create an promising future for kids and families in Utah, regardless of race or zip code. Learn more about their work at uw.org. I’m Derek Miller with the Salt Lake Chamber, and this is Speaking on Business.
