Provo, UT – August 16, 2021 – Squire & Company (Squire), Utah’s trusted accounting partner for nearly 50 years, announced today the retirement of valued CPA of Counsel, Alfred Kofoed. Kofoed’s decision to retire brings a remarkable career of over 50 years practicing public accounting to a close.

“Alfred had an immediate impact on Squire when joining our team,” said Jonyce Bullock, CEO of Squire. “His expertise has shown through as he has navigated client needs, collaborated across internal teams, and led our firm to new opportunities for continued growth. His dedication, enthusiasm for results, and charm will be immensely missed in our day-to-day interactions. We will be forever grateful for all that he has brought to our firm and wish him the best in this next chapter.”

Upon getting his start in accounting back in 1971 in the commercial audit division of Arthur Andersen & Company, Kofoed spent his career strengthening various firms and establishing his credibility as an innovator within the industry. In 1992, Kofoed and two colleagues took their practice to the next level by forming the reputable firm, Nievarrd, Kofoed & Teran (NK&T). There, Kofoed helped the Firm grow exponentially, serving more than 1200 clients over 24 years before dissolving the Firm and selling his portion of the practice to Pinnock Robbins Posey and Richins (PRPR). In 2018, Kofoed joined Squire, using his distinctive skills and five decades of experience to help boost client relations and the overall growth of the firm.

Kofoed’s commitment to advancing the accounting industry extends well beyond his day job, as he has devoted eight years to serving on a committee within the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants (UACPA). He is known across roles for his strategic vision and unique ability to provide meaningful feedback and results for clients and peers.

“I have had a tremendously rewarding career,” said Kofoed.  “It has been an honor to work with this prestigious and influential organization. I am eager to watch Squire continue to grow, and I’m looking forward to being a resource assisting in key client transactions and advising when needed in the future.”

In retirement, Kofoed is eager to pursue his many hobbies which include, traveling in his truck and trailer to national and state parks, sailing at Strawberry Reservoir, skiing at Snow Basin, golfing at the Old Mill, cycling, and working on his photography. He also looks forward to spending a considerable amount of time with his wife, their four beautiful adult children and their families; there are presently 13 grandchildren and hoping for more.
