Winter inversion season is upon us, and that’s why the Salt Lake Chamber in partnership with TravelWise and the Utah Clean Air Partnership, also known as UCAIR, is launching our Inversion Mitigation Initiative.

What is it?

By encouraging businesses to engage their employees in simple voluntary actions that contribute to decreasing vehicle emissions and keeping our air clean.

How can you participate?

Complete a simple form and select which TravelWise strategies your business will implement, and your organization will be considered a Clean Air Champion.

Who Are Clean Air Champions?

They are business leaders in our community that show dedication to our State’s well being and benefit from bottom line savings, enhanced employee morale, and recognition from business community peers.

With your commitment to improving air quality, the Chamber will recognize your efforts by sharing best practices and highlighting your successes to other businesses and the general public.

For their longtime actions to conserve energy, Smith’s Food and Drug Stores was honored as a 2016 Rocky Mountain Power wattsmart® Business Partner of the Year in Utah.

The grocery store chain has participated in Rocky Mountain Power’s wattsmart energy efficiency programs since 2003.

Last year alone Smith’s completed five projects, saving a combined 4.1 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year – enough to power 455 Utah homes.

Projects range from installing energy-efficient lighting to HVAC upgrades.

Smith’s also finds new and innovative ways to collaborate across departments, making efficiency an integral part of operations and maintenance strategy.

This includes training maintenance team members and store associates.

New Years Eve is only a few nights away! Don’t know what to do yet?

Look no further than EVE WinterFest as it returns to downtown Salt Lake City for its eighth year.

This multi-day community-wide celebration of art and culture is in the urban center of Salt Lake City and Utah. And it is the perfect way to ring in the New Year!

More than 40,000 attendees are expected to take advantage of the $25 three-day pass. From cinema to comedy – there is a wide variety of venues for you to take advantage of.

On the 31st, the event culminates with the ultimate, unique countdown experience. Celebrate and watch the ball drop with a light show centered around America’s largest MirrorBall. It’s over 20 feet in diameter!
