In 2026 America will turn 250 years old.

To prepare for this event, Eric Dowdle is putting together 250 paintings that will help tell America’s story.

His art, radio program and TV show “Painting the Town,” help him capture the essence and unique character of historically significant events or places.

Over the next 8 years, Eric will be telling the story of America, and joining with cities and historians across the United States.

We invite you to join the Salt Lake Chamber for a special luncheon where Eric will share the road map to 2026!

Lunch with Eric Dowdle takes place at the Salt Lake Chamber offices on Thursday, December 7th from 11:30 am to 1 pm.

Utah’s economy has changed, but our tax code has been left behind.

In fact, Utah hasn’t seen comprehensive tax reform since the 1980s.

By modernizing our tax code we can ensure our state can meet current and future needs in an equitable and efficient manner.

Our state’s economic development potential and our state’s overall competitiveness requires a modern tax policy.

Every business, neighborhood, and taxpayer is impacted by the tax system – which means we all have a stake in seeing that it is adapted and updated to meet our modern day demands.

Now is the time for meaningful tax reform.

That’s why the Salt Lake Chamber is calling on our state lawmakers to act on this critical issue this upcoming legislative session.

The Clear the Air Challenge is only two months away. The month-long competition gives companies and individuals the chance to help clear Utah’s air by reducing vehicle emissions.

If you’re still wavering on whether or not to participate in the Clear the Air Challenge, here are 3 reasons to drive smarter.

  1. Help improve the air you breathe – It’s simple. Reducing the number of cars on the road leads to improved air quality. If all drivers living along the Wasatch Front were to park their cars just one day per week, vehicle emissions would be reduced by 6,500 tons per year.
  2. Save money – Did you know if a commuter with a longer than average commute drove with a two-person carpool instead of by themselves, they could save more than $1,500 a year.
  3. It’s fun – Sometimes a little competition is just what you need to jump-start new habits. Get your employees and co-workers involved and see how easy it is to reduce emissions and help Utah’s air.

The Clear the Air Challenge starts February 1st. To register visit cleartheairchallenge.org

There’s still time to take part in this year’s Startup Santa competition and compete against other companies to see who can collect the most books for children in need.

Startup Santa is a statewide children’s book drive to support literacy programs and collect new books for children living in low-income families.

Two out of three Utah children living in low-income families and attending the third grade do not read at a proficient level.

With a ratio of 1 book per 300 children in low-income families, Startup Santa seeks to help solve this problem by getting more books in the hands of Utah’s youth.

You can donate money, $5 per new book, or drop off new children’s books at a United Way location or here at the Salt Lake Chamber.

Startup Santa runs through December 15th.

Help give the gift of reading this holiday season.

Sign up your company or learn more about how to donate by visiting startupsanta.org.
