On August 25, the National Park Service will turn 100 years old!
To celebrate their centennial birthday, they launched a “Find Your Park” movement, aimed to inspire Americans to get out and visit a national park.
So what does this celebration mean for Utah’s national parks?
Well, after experiencing record park visitation in 2014 with 7.2 million and 2015 with 8.4 million; there’s a good chance this record will be broken again.
Analysts at the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute noted that park visitation for the first quarter of 2016 was already up 10 percent compared to the first quarter of last year.
This translates into greater visitor spending in Utah’s gateway communities, along with more travel and tourism sector jobs and wages.
According to the National Park Service’s latest figures, in 2015 non-local visitation to Utah’s five national parks generated over $615 million in spending and supported over 9,000 Utah jobs.

Intermountain Healthcare operates 21 hospitals and 185 clinics in Utah. To achieve its energy-savings goals, the not-for-profit, health system has worked closely with Rocky Mountain Power’s energy efficiency programs since 2008.
In fact, last year Intermountain Healthcare completed 12 projects through the Rocky Mountain Power’s wattsmart® Business program, to save 2.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and more than $140,000 in annual energy costs.
Intermountain Healthcare also earned $354,000 in Rocky Mountain Power incentives for the efficiency projects.
