Big-D Companies is pleased to announce the promotion of Melissa Beutler Withy to Chief Legal Officer.
Beutler Withy, who joined Big-D in 2015, has been instrumental in shaping the company’s success through her dedication and legal expertise. She has made significant contributions to the company’s strategic initiatives and growth. Her keen focus on risk management has established her as a cornerstone of Big-D’s corporate structure, ensuring that its operations not only comply with legal standards but also excel in corporate governance.
As Chief Legal Officer, Beutler Withy will continue to oversee the legal aspects of the company’s business, providing strategic guidance on legal matters and leading its efforts to minimize risk across all sectors of the company. She will also continue to serve on the Board of Directors.

A graduate from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, Beutler Withy has spent her career training and advising builders on risk management strategies and contracting topics. She has written and edited two books published by the American Bar Association on construction law topics and has served as an expert witness in state and federal courts on construction project delivery methods and industry-standard contracting practices. She previously served as Chairman of the ConsensusDOCS Council and is integrally involved in drafting and revising industry form contract documents. Prior to joining Big-D as General Counsel in 2015, Beutler Withy represented Big-D as a partner at Holland & Hart LLP.
