According to the World Shipping Council (WSC), the container shipping industry is one of the most important facilitators of the nation’s growth and ongoing economic activity. World Trade Center Utah, Utah Inland Port Authority, Salt Lake Chamber, and Utah business community are fully aware of and working to find solutions to the disruptions in Utah related to the U.S. international ocean transportation system that have been caused by a confluence of consumer demand and market disruption. The importing and exporting businesses in Utah are experiencing the compounding effects of a container movement problem. In an effort to understand the impact on Utah’s businesses, the Salt Lake Chamber is seeking information from impacted community members.
Additionally, World Trade Center Utah, The Utah Inland Port Authority, The Salt Lake Chamber, and the Utah business community are committed to joining with Utah’s federal delegation to engage relevant federal departments and agencies (e.g. the Federal Maritime Commission, the Department of Transportation Maritime Administration, etc.) and industry leaders (e.g. the American Maritime Partnership, port authorities, and shipping companies, etc.).
