This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Small businesses make up 99.4 percent of all businesses in Utah, and Argentina’s Best Empanadas is one local business continuing to grow and make its mark. Owner and Entrepreneur, Analia Valdemoros, joins us with more.
Analia Valdemoros:
Utah is well known for its entrepreneurial spirit, and food is one of the best ways to see it in action. Argentina’s Best Empanadas started in Salt Lake City in 2007 with a family recipe, a downtown farmers market booth and a dream.
Since then, we’ve grown alongside Utah while creating opportunities for other food entrepreneurs. That passion led to Square Kitchen, a shared commercial kitchen where businesses can test ideas, become licensed, build connections and grow. Many brands that started or developed at Square Kitchen are now Utah staples, selling at markets, stores, restaurants and events across the state.
And Argentina’s Best continues to grow, too. We recently launched EmpanaDough, our line of frozen empanada discs, with frozen empanadas coming soon to retail stores. For me, entrepreneurship is about more than building one business. It’s about opening doors, creating connections and helping the next Utah food brands grow.
