This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. One of Salt Lake City’s newest areas is the Maven District — a curated block of locally-owned businesses working to create a community of walkable shops, eateries and offices that believe in diverse communities, self-growth and dreaming big. Founder Tessa Arneson joins us with more.

Tessa Arneson:

Maven District is the proud home of Salt Lake City’s largest community of women-owned small businesses. With over 100 locally-owned shops, food, offices and wellness services, our neighborhood is located on the corner of 900 South and 200 East.

We recently opened Maven Lofts, a collection of one-bedroom affordable apartments, with 7 micro-retail spaces, and a restaurant space with a rooftop garden. The part of the project I’m most excited about is our boutique hotel, which offers a perfect spot for work or play.

Overall, our goal is to make our city cooler and easier to tackle your dreams in. A few of the ways we are doing this is by lowering the barrier of entry to start your business with easy leases for small spaces to promote diversity among our businesses and by creating a friendly walkable neighborhood for all.

And, don’t forget to come visit our fitness studio, Maven Strong, or our co-working space, Maven Create, with promo code FREEDAY. Learn more at mavendistrict.com
