This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Sego Leadership, formerly known as the Women’s Leadership Institute, is built on one belief: Utah thrives when women lead. The organization is committed to elevating women in business and strengthening leadership across Utah. Director of Marketing and Communications, Jen Hunsaker, joins us with more.
Jen Hunsaker:
When women are elevated into leadership, they elevate Utah’s families, businesses and communities. We do this by creating development programs for women and helping companies build workplaces where training sticks. That initiative is called Sego Certified. Utah companies commit to steps that advance women and keep them in the workforce.
We work with companies to create improvements that fit its needs and size. Research shows that companies with gender-equitable leadership report higher retention and are 39% more likely to outperform competitors.
Sego Certified helps businesses compete while staying true to Utah values. It works because it’s practical, safe, and results-focused. Women’s leadership isn’t about displacing men; it’s a multiplier. Companies grow stronger when men and women lead side by side.
Through programs like Sego Next, Sego Rising, Sego Leading and Sego Suite, we prepare women across the pipeline, from returning to work to pursuing the C-Suite. Together, these programs help prepare Utah’s workforce and companies for the future.
Derek Miller:
By empowering women to lead, Sego Leadership is strengthening Utah’s workforce, economy and future. Learn more about their work and services at SegoLeadership.org. I’m Derek Miller, with the Salt Lake Chamber, Speaking on Business.
