Speaking on Business: Show Up Utah Readathon

This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Building strong readers takes all of us, including Utah’s business community. On October 2nd, businesses across the state are invited to help make reading a priority as part of Utah’s statewide Read-a-thon. Here with more is Utah First Lady Abby Cox.

First Lady Abby Cox:

One of the most meaningful things we can do for our children is help them build a love of reading. Strong literacy takes all of us — families, schools, communities and businesses — creating a culture where reading is valued and encouraged.

That’s why, on October 2nd, we’re coming together for a statewide Read-a-thon, and we’re inviting businesses across Utah to be a part of it! There are so many ways to participate. Encourage employees to read during the workday or visit their kids’ classrooms to read. Share what you’re reading, start a book club, or simply make space for reading in whatever way works for your business.

The goal is simple: get Utah reading, together. When children see the adults around them reading, they learn that reading isn’t just for school, it’s something we do for life.

So on October 2nd, let’s come together and show Utah’s children that their entire community believes in the power of reading.

Derek Miller:

Utah businesses have a powerful role to play in building a culture of reading that supports our children and strengthens our future workforce. Join the statewide Read-a-thon on October 2nd. Learn more at ShowUpUtah.org. I’m Derek Miller, Speaking on Business.
