Speaking on Business: The Road Home

This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. The Road Home has helped Utahns experiencing homelessness access shelter, housing and supportive services while building pathways toward stability and permanent housing. Community Building Officer, Alicia Gleed, joins us with more.

Alicia Gleed:

At The Road Home, our mission is helping people move from homelessness to a stable home. We start with meeting immediate needs including, safe shelter, food, basic necessities and case management, but we don’t stop there.

Across six emergency shelters and a range of stable housing options, our teams work alongside people to address the barriers that led to homelessness and help them build a path forward. We connect people to benefits, employment, healthcare and the support they need to achieve long-term stability.

Last fiscal year, The Road Home provided nearly 420,000 nights of emergency shelter and more than 642,000 nights of housing assistance. But behind every number is a real person, a real family.

That’s where Utah’s business community plays such an important role, by providing jobs, partnerships, donations, resources and by believing in what’s possible when we work together. Because everyone deserves dignity, stability and a place to call home.

Derek Miller:

By adapting to Utah’s changing needs, The Road Home is creating lasting change for individuals and families statewide. Learn more at TheRoadHome.org. I’m Derek Miller, with the Salt Lake Chamber, Speaking on Business.
