This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. World Trade Center Utah is part of the World Trade Centers Association headquartered in New York City. It helps connect our state’s business leaders to opportunities around the globe. Here’s Utah’s Chief Operating Officer David Carlebach with more.

Eighty-five percent of Utah’s exporters are small businesses. To help Utah’s small businesses grow their sales internationally, World Trade Center is awarding more than $1 million in STEP grant funding. The STEP grant program is funded in part through a grant with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

STEP grant funds can be used to offset a wide range of costs, associated with pursuing international sales, such as designing international marketing, using services provided by the U.S. Department of Commerce, such as optimizing a website, participating in trade missions and trade shows abroad, and training programs about exporting.

And, because of our nation’s leading trade program and the success of Utah businesses utilizing the STEP grant to increase sales, the SBA has awarded Utah with the largest increase in funding for any state in the country.

Utah’s export growth rate has been the best in the nation for the past two years.  If you think your company is ready to go global, contact World Trade Center Utah for more. I’m Derek Miller with the Salt Lake Chamber, Speaking on Business.
