The Gateway is kicking off its busiest events season with its signature community-tailored celebrations. May’s Art Stroll leads the way on May 17th, followed by The Humane Society of Utah’s ‘Bark at the Moon’ fundraiser, the first of several Sunset Yoga classes, The Makers Hive Market, Bohemian Bum Farmer’s Market, and Outdoor Urban Flea Market.  Juneteenth celebrations take center stage in mid-June, with SLC Pride festivities wrapping up the month’s festivities. Most of these events are free and family friendly. Art Stroll, May 17 and June 21

6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Walk down Rio Grande Street and admire local artists’ creations in the new “Upcycle Utah” themed windows on display. These talented artists open up their “shops” on the third Friday of every month, giving viewers an opportunity to watch them work in-real time, while enjoying live music.

Bark at the Moon Humane Society Fundraiser, May 18

5:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The Humane Society of Utah invites dog lovers and their furry friends to enjoy an evening of live music and local food trucks, while fundraising to help other animals find their homes. Dogs can cool off and play in The Gateway’s fountain before participating in a glow-in-the-dark, pup-friendly walk at the end of the evening’s festivities.  

Sunset Yoga Kickoff, May 23

7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

This summer favorite features a free outdoor yoga class every Thursday at Olympic Plaza, led by a talented yoga instructor from Salt Power Yoga. It offers a chance for yogis of all levels to loosen up with music from a local DJ and a selection of beer available for purchase during class.

The Makers Hive Market, May 26 and June 27

11:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This varied market provides a fun and unique shopping experience that features local and small business owners from all over Salt Lake City. Vendors include those of all backgrounds with a passion for creating. The Market also includes live music, local eateries, and is dog friendly!

Bohemian Bum Farmer’s Market, June 2

10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Celebrate sustainable living and fun-filled community spirit at this vibrant market that brings together local organic produce, artisans, and eco-conscious vendors. Highlights of the Market also include a treasure trove of unique handcrafted goods, delectable treats, and the allure of a charming small town.

Outdoor Urban Flea Market, June 9

10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Explore nearly 100 local vendors at Salt Lake City’s largest monthly flea market. The Market offers the chance to discover a variety of eclectic vintage and antique items displayed by Utah crafters on the second Sunday of each month.

Juneteenth Benefit Concert, June 15

4:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Beloved Community will be hosting the annual Salt Lake Juneteenth Celebration and Benefit Concert at The Gateway. The Benefit Concert showcases local performers, food trucks, and vendors representing black owned small businesses. This ticketed event is a fundraiser that will support Beloved Community’s annual Salt Lake Juneteenth Celebration and Community Economic Development initiatives. 

Juneteenth Festival, June 19

11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Salt Lake Juneteenth Celebration & Black Owned Business Expo is an annual event that celebrates the freedom of enslaved blacks and highlights the inclusive History of the United States of America. This free event melds history, cultural experiences, and family friendly community fun for a celebration of resilience and joy. The programming brings opportunities for cultural experiences and connections which showcase Utah’s entrepreneurial and artistic diversity with activities such as roller skating, a kid’s corner, Beloved Community’s signature Black Owned Business Expo, Black art gallery, pop-up Black history museum, and entertainment stage.

Rush on Rio, June 22

11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Automotive Addiction welcomes community members to “Rush on Rio” at The Gateway for a presentation of automotive excellence and a chance to see 100 of the coolest and rarest exotic cars in the country.

SLC Pride Festival, June 29 & 30

Saturday 2:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 7 p.m.

SLC Pride will be hosting its first SLC Pride and Festival at The Gateway. This event will take place over two days throughout the Gateway offering attendees a vibrant and inclusive celebration of the Queer community and its diversity, where visibility, belonging, support and equity are at the heart.
