IVINS, Utah (Sep. 17, 2026) — Coming on the heels of one of Tuacahn’s most talked about seasons to date, it’s safe to say that topping the likes of Les Misérables in the coming year will require a herculean effort. Luckily, Tuacahn’s 2027 lineup has just the man for the job.
Hercules!
After finishing a successful run in London’s West End, Disney’s electrifying new musical Hercules will be unveiled at Tuacahn in an exclusive look at this popular take on Greek mythology.
“I’m probably most excited about ‘Hercules’,” said Shari Jordan, associate artistic director for Tuacahn. “I saw it when it premiered at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park in 2019, and as soon as I saw it, I knew it was the perfect fit for Tuacahn.”
Featuring music by Alan Menken, and under the skilled vision of the same artistic team that has brought Disney’s Tarzan, The Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo to life at Tuacahn in recent years, Hercules promises to be a theatrical experience that will “Go the Distance” the minute it opens in summer of 2027.
“It’s just so exciting to know that what Tuacahn produces this year might influence future productions of this show,” Jordan said.
Standing side by side with Disney’s Hercules is another story that has stood the test of time, coming together in nothing short of biblical proportions, in the popular film-turnedstage-production of The Prince of Egypt.
“I love that you get some of the historical elements from this production, along with the music by Stephen Schwartz which is some of the best I’ve heard in my life,” said Scott Anderson, artistic director for Tuacahn.
While the leading character may not be a Greek god, Moses certainly has the help of the Hebrew god as he goes toe-to-toe with Pharaoh to free the Israelite slaves, culminating in a miraculous exodus most stages couldn’t begin to hold — but the size and scope of Tuacahn perfectly fits the bill.
“People loved this show when we did it back in 2018 and we regularly receive requests to produce it again,” Anderson said. “When we did it before, we didn’t have the LED capabilities we do now, so it will be exciting to see the special effects portrayed in a whole new way.”
Rounding out the 2027 Outdoor Amphitheatre offerings is a piece so delightful, so energetic, you can’t stop the beat — nor will you want to — when this aerosol can of talent, and poignant messaging is unleashed in Hairspray.
“When you do theater, sometimes you do it to entertain, sometimes you do it to inform, and sometimes you do it to educate, and I think the message in Hairspray really hits on all of these,” Anderson said. “This is something that is good for all of us to remember, and it’s done in such a fun and entertaining way.”
But even before these meaningful messages and never-before-seen effects take to the Outdoor Amphitheatre stage, Tuacahn’s 2027 season officially kicks off in January in the Indoor Hafen Theatre with the previously announced production of The Play That Goes Wrong.
This hilarious non-musical will be the first of its kind to be produced at Tuacahn and is something they’ve been looking forward to offering for a long time.
“Anyone who likes theater, or who has been involved in a theater production will really appreciate this one,” Jordan said. “We’ve been wanting to try a nonmusical for quite a while, just to offer something a little different, so we’re really excited that this worked out.”
Wrapping up the season in the Indoor Hafen Theatre, audiences can enjoy one of Tuacahn’s most popular indoor productions with a Christmas twist in Million Dollar Quartet Christmas. Featuring the vocal stylings of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis singing favorite holiday tunes, it’s the perfect way to ring in the Christmas season in 2027.
