3 Questions with Chamber Champion Benjamin Brown

At the 2025 Annual Meeting, the Salt Lake Chamber will honor individuals and organizations whose dedication has strengthened both the Chamber’s mission and the community. This year, we’re proud to recognize Benjamin Brown, Former Director of Government Relations & Public Affairs, Fidelity Investments, as a Chamber Champion – an award reserved for exceptional Chamber volunteers who go above and beyond in service.

Benjamin Brown dedicated 21 years to Fidelity Investments, joining in 2004 and spending the first half of his career helping customers with retirement planning and investing, before pivoting to director of government relations & public affairs. In this role, he built strong connections with government officials, as well as forged lasting connections with new friends and partners at the Salt Lake Chamber, nonprofits and the broader business community. Brown’s commitment to community service is evident through his active participation in multiple boards, including Downtown Alliance, Center of Economic Opportunity & Belonging, Legal Aid Society of Salt Lake and Utah Foundation.

Here’s what Brown had to say when we asked about his involvement with the Chamber.

What inspires you to dedicate your time and energy to volunteering and supporting the Chamber’s mission?

If you’re thinking about joining or getting involved with the Chamber, my advice is simple: just show up! There are so many chances to connect, learn and meet new people. There are tons of events that can spark your curiosity about different topics and issues. The more you attend, the more opportunities you’ll have to make a difference!

Is there a particular Chamber project, event or initiative that you are especially proud of having worked on?

I’ve had the pleasure of being a co-chair of the Salt Lake Chamber’s Capitol Club for several legislative sessions. It was an incredible experience that allowed me to meet and build relationships with some of the most amazing people and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and issues facing our business community.

What advice would you offer to those looking to become more involved and support their community through the Chamber?

If you’re looking to get more involved with the Salt Lake Chamber, your community or anything else, my advice is simple: show up, be curious and make friends. Building relationships in the broader community is one of the best things you can do for yourself, both personally and professionally!
