3 Questions with Chamber Champion Don Stirling

At the 2025 Annual Meeting, the Salt Lake Chamber will honor individuals and organizations whose dedication has strengthened both the Chamber’s mission and the community. This year, we’re proud to recognize Don Stirling, Executive Director of the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation, as a Chamber Champion – an award reserved for exceptional Chamber volunteers who go above and beyond in service.

Don Stirling serves as a liaison among the Larry H. & Gail Miller Company’s portfolio companies and the Miller Family’s philanthropic activities. He has a diverse and extensive background in development, marketing, communications and policy. Prior to joining the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation / Miller Family Services, Stirling was the executive vice president of Marketing and Communications for Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment, vice president of special projects for the Larry H. Miller Company and chief revenue officer for LHM Sports and Entertainment.

Additionally, Stirling spent six years as national finance director/senior finance advisor for Governor Mitt Romney. He held strategic sales and marketing positions with NBA Properties, Ladies Professional Golf Association, Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games and the Massachusetts Sports Commission. Stirling also served as chief of marketing and publishing for Deseret Book.

Here’s what Stirling had to say when we asked about his involvement with the Chamber.

What inspires you to dedicate your time and energy to volunteering and supporting the Chamber’s mission?

When Utah is healthy from an economic and opportunity standpoint, we all benefit. The Chamber’s efforts to grow business — seasoned and new — as well as cultivate opportunities for leadership, mentorship and economic mobility, create an environment where more and more of our citizens can thrive.

Is there a particular Chamber project, event or initiative that you are especially proud of having worked on?

Members of the Miller family, as well as the Larry H. Miller Company and the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation, have served and volunteered to assist the Chamber in many areas — from Giant in Our City to Utah Community Builders to leadership and committee participation. We are always willing to do our part.

What does receiving this award mean to you?

This award is more about the responsibility we all feel at the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation to do our part, to give back, to hopefully make a difference and enrich lives and when all is said and done, that the lives of our citizens are better off because of our collective work.
