Ballet West ended its February run of Swan Lake with sold out performances for nearly all ten shows. With 16,348 attendees, it was the Company’s largest audience attendance in more than 40 years. Ballet West’s Swan Lake is now the highest non-Nutcracker production in company history, surpassing the record-attendance of Dracula last fall.
As one of the top 10 ballet companies in the country, Ballet West has earned an international reputation for artistic innovation and excellence since its founding in 1963.
“Long noted as one of Utah’s cultural treasures, Ballet West has become one of America’s most highly regarded ballet companies,” said Ballet West Executive Director Michael Scolamiero. “With artistry that rivals that of other national and international companies, Ballet West’s role is that of a cultural ambassador, bringing programs by leading choreographers to audiences worldwide.”
The company’s 60th celebration continues with Love and War, a powerful triple-bill of groundbreaking and astonishing works. Performances run from April 12 – 20 at the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre. Tickets start at just $30. Visit balletwest.org for ticket information. The Family Classics Series also returns with Beauty and the Beast on March 29 – 30, with the 7pm performance on March 30 presented exclusively with Spanish narration.
