Repertory Dance Theatre is thrilled to celebrate 60 years of revolutionary modern dance
Repertory Dance Theatre (RDT), the nation’s premier modern dance repertory company, proudly announces its 2025-2026 season, celebrating 60 years of revolutionary modern dance. RDT’s Diamond Anniversary season honors the company’s rich history while propelling them forward with renewed purpose. This season RDT proudly commemorates the connections and relationships that shaped their legacy, commissions new works that expand the boundaries of modern dance and strengthens the company’s commitment to making dance accessible to all.
RDT’s season concerts at the Rose Wagner include:
OCTOBER 2-4, 2025
RDT honors an artistic relationship that began in 1993 with the presentation of Migrations (2021) by choreographer Zvi Gotheiner and composer Scott Killian. The evening-length work is inspired by images of bird migration and reflects on human migration caused by conflict and resource scarcity, exploring the collision of humanity with nature. The artistic bond between Gotheiner and Killian that began over 30 years ago has enabled RDT to present powerful contemporary work inspired by the issues and challenges we face in our local and national communities.
NOVEMBER 20-22, 2025
RDT’s commitment to commissioning new work is highlighted with the return of three audience favorites including Oktet: In Situ by Katarzyna Skarpetowska (2022) and Yusha-Marie Sorzano’s Solfege (2023). RDT will also honor the historic 60-year relationship with Tanner Dance through Jacque Lynn Bell’s Ryoanji re-staged with 43 cross-generational performers. Rounding out this season performance will be two new commissions, the first by Norbert De La Cruz III, known for creating hybrid dance works that blend ballet with improvisational and personal elements; the second celebrating the creative contributions of our own artistic staff with a new work by Nicholas Cendese, RDT’s new Executive/Artistic Co-Director.
JANUARY 9-10, 2026
In its 10th year, EMERGE continues as an avenue for RDT to connect and build artistic collaborations with other dancers, dance companies, and artists in the Salt Lake area. This concert features choreography by RDT’s multi-faceted and talented dancers and Artistic Staff.
FEBRUARY 28, 2026
An event 60 years in the making – this gala event features sumptuous food, an alumni salute and unique performance, plus an immersive archive exhibit. Hosted at the Rose Wagner, this event will celebrate RDT’s history, legacy, and individuals that have helped RDT achieve this landmark.
APRIL 23-25, 2026
ANTHOLOGY highlights RDT’s distinctive ability to bridge past, present, and future by honoring five masters of modern dance. RDT gratefully acknowledges its origins on the University of Utah campus with the re-staging of Dance for Walt Whitman by Helen Tamiris. This 1961 classic was created in honor of Virginia Tanner and features 15 guest performers from the University’s Department of Dance. Martha Graham’s Dark Meadow Suite is made up of highlights from a much longer work titled Dark Meadow which premiered in 1946 and was recognized as one the choreographer’s most architectural, ritualistic and profound creations. The Suite is a powerful exploration of rebirth, will be paired with José Limón’s Concerto Grosso, RDT’s first major choreographic acquisition in 1967.
Repertory Dance Theatre envisions dance as a universal language that fosters imagination and community, ensuring accessibility for all. Their mission is to preserve and advance modern dance through performances, education, and outreach.
