Salt Lake Chamber to Examine Regulatory, Trade and Workforce Development Policies During Visit to Washington, D.C.

Business community to share important federal priorities to continue Utah’s economic prosperity

SALT LAKE CITY (September 3, 2025) — The Salt Lake Chamber, with a group of Utah business executives and community leaders, will head to Washington, D.C., next week to meet with members of Utah’s congressional delegation to discuss important federal priorities, such as federal permitting, trade policies and workforce development strategies, among others.

“Our driving mission as the Salt Lake Chamber is to pave the way to prosperity for our business community and advocate for solutions that remove barriers to their success,” said Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber. “This year, addressing critical needs in energy and infrastructure is prominent in our minds, as well as fair trade policies and balanced regulation. This year’s federal priorities are critical to the progression of our businesses and communities and will drive the change necessary to build successful, sustainable futures.”

Topics the Chamber will discuss with lawmakers include:

  • Energy – Advancing Utah’s leadership in nuclear innovation and responsible permitting to help businesses power operations, create jobs and meet future demands.
  • Infrastructure & Federal Lands – Strengthening Utah’s economic competitiveness and quality of life through policies that invest in infrastructure, connect communities, streamline processes and leverage smart financing tools.
  • National Security – Ensuring continued investment in defense infrastructure, supply chain resilience and advanced technologies to maintain strategic advantage and support thousands of Utah jobs.
  • Natural Resources – Promoting science-based water management, encouraging innovation in resource efficiency and investing in forest health and wildfire prevention.
  • Regulation – Supporting policies that provide businesses confidence and certainty, protect state decision-making and ensure taxpayer dollars are used efficiently.
  • Trade & Tariffs – Expanding international market access, strengthening key trading relationships and protecting local businesses from unfair trade practices to help Utah exporters succeed.
  • Workforce – Expanding workforce infrastructure, such as affordable housing, attainable education and accessible child care, to address Utah’s urgent workforce needs and maintain the state’s position as one of the best places to live and do business.
