(HEBER CITY, UT) – Smith’s Food & Drug is building a new Smith’s Marketplace store at 744 North Main Street in Heber City, Utah.
The 123,000 square foot multi-department store will offer a complete grocery store including a sit-down sushi and Starbucks, fresh made to order salads and sandwiches, and Murray’s Cheese. Along with apparel, sporting equipment and household goods, the new store will have a floral department, drive through pharmacy, online grocery Pick Up, and a seasonal patio with indoor and outdoor dining.
Unique to the Heber Marketplace store is the on-site Smith’s Fuel Center which will feature ethanol free fuel and will cater to large recreational vehicles and boats with enlarged drive through lanes with a waste containment depository.
Smith’s anticipates hiring 200 new employees in addition to the existing employees who will transfer from the current Smith’s store in Heber City to the new marketplace location when it opens to customers.
The $32 million Smith’s Marketplace will anchor the first phase of the 1,200 acre shopping project under development as a joint venture between Valley Hills, LLC, a commercial real estate investment and development company. R & O Construction company will build the store. When completed in summer 2024, it will be the 15th Smith’s Marketplace to be built in Utah.
As part of the company’s ongoing effort to moderate energy use, the new store will be implemented with the latest technologies in overhead lighting and freezers and coolers with more efficient LED lights.
During construction Smith’s will required the builder to recycle 90% of the project’s total non-hazardous waste such as scrap wood, metal, cardboard, concrete brick, and plastic as part of Smith’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative.
