Speaking on Business: Economic Development Corporation of Utah

This is Derek Miller Speaking on Business. The Economic Development Corporation of Utah – also known as EDCUtah – was established in 1987 to help recruit businesses to our state. Theresa Foxley serves as president and CEO and is here with more.

THERESA FOXLEY:
EDCUtah is a public-private partnership charged with attracting quality jobs and increasing capital investment in the state. We execute on that mission through research, business development, marketing, and community strategy.

When we were founded 30 years ago, Utah suffered from a brain drain, so EDCUtah sought to attract companies from other states to help diversify our economy. We’ve been successful! This last year, EDCUtah helped 35 companies choose Utah. Those firms will create over 20,000 new jobs.

Today Utah has one of the most diverse economies in the nation and we’re excited that 30 percent of the projects in our expansion pipeline are companies already in Utah that are looking to grow.

To help in our in-state expansion efforts, we’ve set a goal of interviewing 60 Utah companies this year about doing business in the state. Go to our website EDCUtah.org to learn more or just give us a call.

DEREK MILLER:
The Salt Lake Chamber and the Economic Development Corporation of Utah work hard to keep Utah thriving. Our efforts are working –Utah consistently ranks as one of the best states for economic growth. I’m Derek Miller with the Salt Lake Chamber, Speaking on Business.
