Speaking on Business: Mortenson

This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Since its founding as a small family-owned construction company, Mortenson has grown into a trusted leader in Utah, delivering transformative projects across the state, shaping communities, supporting local growth and driving innovation that strengthens the region. Director of Business Development, Josh Caldwell, joins us with more.

Josh Caldwell:

Since 1983, Mortenson has proudly delivered transformative projects across the state — and consistently since 2017. Today we have more than 200 team members who call Utah home, bringing national expertise and a ton of horsepower to execute locally.

We’ve built over 5,000,000,000 dollars in projects here, over the past couple of years and we’re shaping communities through healthcare facilities, data centers, life science labs, industrial spaces and iconic sports and entertainment venues.

But Mortenson is more than just a builder — we’re a developer and an investor as well, having acquired over 500,000 square feet of office space and over 1,800,000 square feet of industrial product in Utah just in the past couple of years.

We also focus on sustainability, innovation and community impact in every project, ensuring lasting value, stronger communities and meaningful experiences for generations to come. At the end of the day our commitment is simple: we’re here to redefine what’s possible for Utah’s future. We are Mortenson. We are Utah.

Derek Miller:

Mortenson continues to shape Utah’s communities, delivering projects that inspire innovation, create new opportunities, foster growth and leave a lasting, meaningful impact for generations to come.
