Speaking on Business: Utah Clean Air Partnership (UCAIR)

This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Since 2012, the Utah Clean Air Partnership, or UCAIR, has been at the forefront of improving Utah’s air quality. By empowering others to take action, UCAIR is driving meaningful change for cleaner, healthier air across the state. Executive Director Lindsie Smith joins us with more.

Lindsie Smith:
UCAIR is dedicated to helping individuals, businesses, and communities make small changes to improve Utah’s air. Every small change contributes to a bigger, positive impact. UCAIR accomplishes our work through educational programs and messaging campaigns, grants that support innovative solutions, and fostering partnerships with a broad network of organizations.

While Utah’s air quality has improved over the last 30 years, we still have work to do to reduce emissions that lead to winter inversions and summertime ozone. In Salt Lake County, our homes and our cars account for roughly 70 percent of the emissions that negatively impact air quality.

This means that we, as individuals, have the power to make a real difference in the quality of the air we breathe. Through simple actions such as reducing idling, taking public transit, trip-chaining, walking or biking, and more, we contribute to the health, economic prosperity, and well-being of the communities in which we live.

Derek Miller:
UCAIR knows that even the smallest actions can spark bigger movement—leading to cleaner air, healthier communities, a stronger economy, and a better quality of life for everyone. Find out how you can make a difference at UCAIR.org. I’m Derek Miller with the Salt Lake Chamber, Speaking on Business.
