The Gateway Kicks off Downtown Salt Lake City’s Holiday Season with the Annual Lights On! Celebration and Debut of Fall/Winter Art Shop Window Installations by Local Artists

The debut of the vibrant, urban winter wonderland will feature contemporary lighting schemes, woodland creatures, live music by Changing Lanes, and more.

The 2024 holiday season will officially kick off in downtown Salt Lake City at The Gateway on Saturday, November 16 with the annual Lights On! event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The lighting ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30pm, illuminating the downtown destination with vibrant and colorful light displays offering guests ample photo opportunities to capture the fun. Guests can also enjoy the festive atmosphere with woodland animals, a host of new holiday displays, stilt walkers, prizes and a balloon twister for kids. The local band Changing Lanes will perform on the Olympic Plaza stage. Flanker Kitchen + Sporting Club will serve hot beverages, seasonal cocktails for those 21 and over, and tasty bites.

Guests are encouraged to wander at their delight to discover a dozen new, seasonal Art Shop Project Windows by local artists inspired by the theme “Winter Hues.”

“Our merchants and the entire Gateway team are very excited to continue this cherished annual tradition of being the downtown hub for celebrating the season. Lights On! remains one of The Gateway’s most anticipated events, and we can’t wait to welcome both visitors and locals to dive into the holiday spirit at this free and fun, family-friendly event.” says Julissa Breslin, The Gateway’s director of marketing.

Holiday lights and installations will be on display through December 31 while Art Shop Windows can be enjoyed though the winter season.
