Utah Valley University – Orem Campus Named a Bronze Bicycle Friendly University by the League of American Bicyclists

Wolverines and community invited to plan the future of bikes on campus

The League of American Bicyclists has honored Utah Valley University’s (UVU) Orem Campus with its first Bicycle Friendly University Award (bronze level) for promoting safe, accessible bicycling on campus. The award recognizes the university’s efforts in supporting cyclists and improving bike infrastructure.

“By prioritizing better biking, Bicycle Friendly Universities like UVU are empowering students and staff to make choices that benefit their health, their environment, and their communities,” said Bill Nesper, executive director of the League of American Bicyclists.

Frank Young, UVU’s associate vice president of Facilities and Planning, highlighted that “the Orem campus encourages bicycling by providing amenities such as bike lanes, parking at convenient locations around campus, and incentives such as free transit passes that pair well with biking, walking, and other devices like scooters and skateboards.”

The university is working with Bike Utah and the Mountainland Association of Governments (MAG) to develop a Campus Active Transportation Plan. Campus and community members are encouraged to participate in an upcoming planning workshop on:
