Big-D Aims to Raise $40,000 to Support Life-Saving Heart Health Initiatives During September
Big-D Companies is excited to announce its partnership with the American Heart Association (AHA) during its annual Week of Giving, September 14-21. This year, the initiative focuses on raising awareness and funds to combat heart disease.
Big-D is taking decisive action to help combat this silent killer. The goal for its employees is to raise $20,000, which Big-D will match, with a total goal of $40,000 to support heart health initiatives that can save lives.
“Big-D Companies has a deep commitment to the communities in which we live, work, and play. By focusing on heart health, we strive to safeguard our employees and enhance the well-being of our industry. Together, we’re building healthier, stronger futures.” said Shaun Orr, Chief Information Officer of Big-D Companies.
Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, affecting millions of individuals and families each year. The AHA has been at the forefront of combating this disease through its pioneering research, advocacy for healthier communities, patient care improvements, and pursuit of equitable health for all people. This makes the AHA an ideal partner for Big-D’s Week of Giving initiative
Throughout the week, Big-D employees will participate in various heart-healthy walks, with the goal of achieving a 90% participation rate across the company. By focusing on heart-friendly activities, Big-D hopes to inspire employees to cultivate lifelong healthy habits while contributing to a greater cause.
“The American Heart Association is thrilled and honored to work with Big-D Companies on our Heart Hats with Heart initiative. In the U.S., construction workers have a higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Hard Hats with Heart educates the construction industry about the signs, risks and ways to prevent heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. Together, we can create safer working environments where healthy habits are adopted, workers feel confident to perform CPR and more lives are saved,” said Liv Sasaki, Executive Director, American Heart Association Utah Division.
