Executech: Putting People First

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, small businesses make up 99.9% of all U.S. businesses. What’s more, Utah has been credited as the most pro-small business state in America, thanks to our state’s pro-business initiatives and support systems. Each month, the Salt Lake Chamber will highlight a small business in Utah to emphasize its importance in our economy and encourage local support.

For any small business to succeed, it needs to attract and retain customers, making it necessary to distinguish itself from the competition. In an increasingly technological world, distinction is even more important in tech-based industries. Executech, a Microsoft direct partner and Utah’s largest managed IT services provider based in South Jordan, has known this since its founding in 1999 and acted accordingly.

Lee Weech, the company’s Vice President of Sales, credits the success in distinguishing itself to the vision of its founder, Eric Montague. “He realized that everybody was doing IT the same way, and he came up with the company motto of ‘People First.’ It means that in day-to-day operations, you’re in front of your clients, have a relationship with them and are present. Our employees give great customer service by being present in the business,” Weech explained.

As a managed IT services provider, Executech supports companies in managed IT, security and cloud services. Each client is assigned a service delivery team, composed of six to seven Executech employees who each specialize in one of three departments. These team members make frequent on-site visits to the business they support, building relationships and a level of comfort with the client’s team members that Weech believes is unique in the industry.

One of Executech’s most impressive accomplishments, thanks to this team structure and comprehensive service, is their fifteen-minute response time to client service tickets. “Whenever our clients need support, we have somebody ready to reply and respond,” Weech stated. “Someone is available to take calls every hour of the day, every day of the year.”

Regarding tips for successfully keeping up with all the technology necessary to run a business, Weech suggested that high-level leadership and CEOs of companies prioritize having a basic understanding of technology. “I’m not a mechanic, and I don’t know how to change a transmission, but if I start hearing noises there, I can pull the car over and get it to an expert,” Weech offered as a metaphor for understanding technology. “Have meetings with experts like Executech to get ahead of your issues and keep your company secure and thriving.”

With a motto like “People First,” it’s no wonder that Executech prioritizes service in the communities they work in. “We don’t give back only as a business, but as human beings, and we try to facilitate giving back to nonprofits and the city and community we live in,” Weech said. One of their recent projects included a day of service at Ronald McDonald House Charities in Utah, Spokane, WA and Seattle, WA.

Executech’s love for the communities they serve is what drew them to the Salt Lake Chamber. “The friendships we get from being involved with the Chamber have been great. You get to become friends with experts in different fields, and when you need an expert, you have a group of individuals you trust who will be honest with you and help with whatever the problem is,” Weech said.
