According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Data Center, small businesses make up 99.9% of all U.S. businesses, employing nearly 46% of Americans. Utah continues to stand out for its pro-business climate, supported by strong initiatives and resources that help entrepreneurs start and grow. Each month, the Salt Lake Chamber will highlight a small business in Utah to showcase its economic impact and encourage community support.
Since opening its doors in 1976, Presto Print has been helping Utah businesses and organizations bring their ideas to life through high-quality printing, bold displays, apparel branding and now even custom car wrapping.
What started as a small downtown print shop, founded by the father of current President and CEO Matt Varanakis, has grown into a trusted, full-service business that can handle everything from a single print order to thousands of pieces at once — all while keeping that local, family-run feel.
Looking back on the company’s journey, Varanakis shared, “We typically have between 60 and 100 jobs in the store at a time. It’s amazing to see how much we’ve grown since my dad first opened this shop downtown. What started with smaller projects has evolved into something much bigger, allowing us to take on large-scale work.” With more than $3 million in sales this past year, Presto Print continues to grow while staying grounded in the relationships that built its reputation.
A big part of that impact comes from supporting Utah’s nonprofit community. Presto Print regularly partners with local organizations by providing the promotional materials they need to tell their stories and connect with others. Varanakis explained, “We’ve been able to help local nonprofits and foundations like the Humane Societies and Cancer Foundations with important printing materials for events and marketing — whether that’s flags, banners, programs and more.”
For more than 20 years, Presto Print has been a member of the Salt Lake Chamber and has built meaningful connections within Utah’s business community. “Not only is the Salt Lake Chamber a great client of ours,” Varanakis said, “but they’ve helped us build a strong network and spread the word about what we do.”
