One-time celebration on May 21 to recognize those who have shaped Utah
SALT LAKE CITY (March 25, 2026) — Today, the Salt Lake Chamber announced a new, one-time event, Under One Sky: America250 Utah Awards Gala, that will replace this year’s Giant in Our City event to honor the individuals and organizations whose leadership has significantly strengthened the fabric of Utah and our Nation. The evening will also include a special recognition of Utah businesses that have operated for more than 100 years.
The event will be held on May 21, 2026, at the Grand America Hotel, and is designed to coincide with the milestone moment, the 250th anniversary of the United States. As this event is uniquely tied to this historic and celebratory national milestone, it will be held only once in this format. Under One Sky recognizes those who build bridges across sectors, steward opportunity with integrity and create networks that drive lasting progress for generations to come.
“There are moments that call for something different, and this is one of them. As we mark 250 years of this nation’s history, we wanted to create an evening worthy of the milestone and honor those who have shaped our state and country,” said Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber and Utah Chamber. “We want to recognize those who have created opportunity and strengthened the bonds that hold our communities together. ‘Under One Sky’ is our way of saying thank you, and our affirmation that everything Utah has built, we build and celebrate together.”
The Salt Lake Chamber is proud to announce the gala’s honorees:
- Under One Sky Award: The Larry H. Miller Company
- Steward of the Sky Award: Intermountain Health
- Milky Way Award: Huntsman Family Foundation
The following individuals will also be honored:
- United Star Award: Natalie Gochnour, Associate Dean, David Eccles School of Business, and Director, Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute at the University of Utah
- Constellation of Connection Award: Christian Gardner, CEO and Chairman, Gardner Group
- North Star Award: Fred P. Lampropoulos, Founder, Merit Medical Systems, Inc.
- North Star Award: Lavanya Mahate, Founder, Saffron Valley and RISE Culinary Institute
- Guiding Light Award: Wayne Niederhauser, Utah Homeless Coordinator (retired), State of Utah
