This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. March is Women’s History Month, so it’s completely appropriate that today, we combine a great theme, with great art, made right here in Utah. Evi Karpos is the project coordinator at Statues.com and is here to tell us about their efforts to honor women through sculpture.
Our family has been in the classical statue and manufacturing business for nearly three decades. In 2018, as the U.S. was preparing to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment, we created a collection of 7-inch-tall busts honoring women’s suffrage leaders such as Susan B. Anthony, Alice Paul, and Ida B. Wells – trailblazers who fought hard to give women the right to vote.
This month, in honor of Women’s History Month, we launched the Shaping HER Story Through Sculpture Collection which will eventually honor 24 women. We’re kicking off this collection by honoring Bessie Coleman, the first African and Native American woman pilot, and Madam C.J. Walker, America’s first black female millionaire. The goal of each 7-inch-tall bust is to amplify the achievements of phenomenal women and serve as visual inspiration for all people.
