President’s Message: Small Businesses Empowering Utah

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, small businesses make up 99.9% of all U.S. businesses. Utah has been credited as the most pro-small business state in America, thanks to our state’s pro-business initiatives and support systems.

At the Salt Lake Chamber, we celebrate and highlight small businesses each month to demonstrate the vital role they play in Utah’s economy and community. From family-owned restaurants to cutting-edge tech startups, these businesses are a lifeblood for community, growth and opportunity. Supporting small businesses is not merely an economic choice, it’s a significant investment in the heartbeat of our community. Utah’s small businesses are more than places of commerce, they are the custodians of our unique local identity and strength.

Small businesses are economic engines that create jobs, stimulate innovation and contribute to our local prosperity. They offer unique products, services, experiences and solutions. They sponsor local events, sports teams and charities. They know their customers and create a sense of belonging and camaraderie that strengthens the social fabric of our communities. The benefit of supporting small businesses goes on, and on. And in these small businesses, we have seen firsthand the profound impact they have on our local economy. Consider a few of the many compelling examples of why we should champion small businesses across our thriving state from some of Utah’s local businesses:
