President’s Message: Reflecting on Our Past to Better Our Future
For Utah, 2024 has been a year full of development and promises of great things to come. At the end of each year, I reflect on what we accomplished and how the Salt Lake Chamber has fulfilled its mission and vision. Whenever describing the Chamber’s work, I like to use our ABCs: Advocate Policy, Build Business and Connect Community.
President’s Message: Champion Change by Empowering Others
In Utah’s dynamic business community, innovation and leadership fuel our growth and opportunity. We talk about them and work at developing those skills, but sometimes neglect to focus on the things that allow groundbreaking innovation and leadership to occur and thrive – to name a few, things like inclusivity, integrity, ambition, unity and collaboration.
President’s Message: The Business Case for Civic Involvement
As we approach an important election, I want to call attention to the critical role of civic engagement. Our participation in the democratic process goes beyond simply voting — it’s about being informed, involved and active in shaping the policies that impact our businesses, communities and state. Our choices today will determine our economic direction and set the tone for our future prosperity.
President’s Message: Honoring Our Past and Looking Toward Our Future
This past year has been marked by many milestones. Together with the business community, the Salt Lake Chamber has advanced key projects, forged new partnerships and championed causes that reflect our shared values. It’s the dedication of our business community that drives Utah’s success, and we look forward to celebrating the Chamber’s 137-year-old legacy of […]
President’s Message: The Spirit of Olympics is Alive and Well in Utah
The Paris 2024 Olympic & Paralympic Summer Games are well underway, and attending the opening ceremony and events as part of the delegation from Utah has been a privilege. The Olympics not only celebrate the physical, mental and emotional stamina of athletes worldwide, but also demonstrate the power of unity and global collaboration. As I sat among leaders from around the world, I was reminded of the importance of fostering connections and building relationships, learning from others and sharing insights. The atmosphere was a true reflection of the human spirit and the shared pursuit of excellence.
President’s Message: Uplift Communities All Year Long Through Volunteerism
With the hustle and bustle of winter holidays far behind us, summertime is a unique opportunity to shine a light on the incredible impact of volunteering and the nonprofit sector here in Salt Lake City. People are extra vigilant during those holiday months to give back, but now is the time when nonprofits and underserved communities still need crucial support.
President’s Message: Cultivating Community by Shopping Local
Summer brings a new sense of community to Utah. With warmer weather and longer days, friends, family and neighbors can more easily enjoy all that Salt Lake City has to offer. One beloved summer tradition is the Downtown Farmers Market at Pioneer Park. The market happens every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June […]
President’s Message: A New Era of Prosperity
Nearly 20 years after launching the Downtown Rising initiative in the heart of Salt Lake City, Utah’s business community has come together again to create a statewide economic vision. This vision – Utah Rising: A Free Enterprise Vision for Utah’s Economy – will be driven by proven principles while outlining opportunities for ongoing success and sustainable growth. […]
President’s Message: Major League Baseball at The Power District
Last month, The Larry H. Miller Company unveiled the renderings for a historic development at the Power District. This nearly 100-acre site near the Fairpark and Jordan River serves as the perfect location for a legacy development that is smart, strategic and exciting. The plan put forth by The Larry H. Miller Company, affirming its status as the preferred site for Major League Baseball (MLB), not only promises economic prosperity, but knows it will contribute to the cultural enrichment and unity of our community.
President’s Message: Nurturing Small Businesses is Vital to Utah’s Economic Prosperity
In 1969 Khosrow Semnani arrived in Salt Lake City as a student with less than $50 in his pocket. He had dreams of attending a U.S. university, aspirations to become a successful business owner, and goals to give back to his community. He worked jobs as a janitor, painted houses, mowed lawns and found other […]
